Venezuela has seen steady growth in master sports. This is evident in its recent participation, especially in basketball, where, for example, it regularly fields three teams in the tournaments of the International Maxibasketball Federation (FIMBA), one of the arms of the Committee that will organize the International Maxi Games in Mar del Plata in 2026.

Aluirson Añez is one of the visible faces and explains: “In our country, we have a deeply rooted master culture in disciplines such as basketball, baseball, futsal, soccer, tennis, open water swimming, and others.”

Regarding the event to be held in Mar del Plata from November 24 to December 4, 2026, he said that "Venezuela is interested in participating in several sports. I am part of the Club Privado Hogar Canario Venezolano, and we have a Master +60 basketball team there. I am in Argentina and had a meeting with FIMBA leaders Rubén Rodríguez Lamas and Franco Zullich (who are also members of the Maxi Organizing Committee) and we talked about the big move to Mar del Plata."

Aluirson highlighted the growth of master sports in Venezuela, which includes sponsors.

Regarding playing sports at a master age, he commented: “It means staying busy, and after the economic recession of 2017, Venezuelan masters turned much more to sports. The International Maxi Games is a nice idea that we will support,” he concluded.
