Marcelo Deluca, the recent World Athletics Champion in Daegu (South Korea) in the decathlon (60–65 age group), will compete in the International Maxi Games to be held in Mar del Plata.
This is a major achievement for the Argentine athlete, born in Buenos Aires on July 23, 1966, made possible by the tremendous sacrifice of training four hours a day, Monday through Saturday, since November 2025 to reach peak form in technique, speed, and aerobic capacity. The competition consists of the 100-, 400-, and 1,500-meter dashes, long jump, high jump, shot put, 400-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, and javelin throw.
He finished with a total score of 6,838 points, with Japan and Belgium joining him on the podium.
Deluca summited Aconcagua in 2017 and competed in open-water swimming circuits until he took up track and field in 2018.
“I always travel with Mercedes, my life partner. It’s a passion that’s enjoyable but also requires training. I’m grateful that I can keep doing it,” he says.
Feliz adds, “I train at CENARD and run alongside U20, U23, and senior athletes. To them, I’m like a role model. We have to take care of ourselves and be responsible. I’m grateful to my coach, Ariel Tejera.”
“THE MAXI GAMES WILL BE OF A VERY HIGH LEVEL”
Regarding the Maxi Games, he said: “I’m going to train for them; there are three events, so I’ll choose between sprint, long-distance, or throwing.
The Maxi Games are going to feature a very high international level of competition.”
Finally, he expressed his gratitude “for life and for being able to share it with my partner, for good health, and for being able to enjoy sports with perseverance and consistency.”
