Participation in the International Maxi Games opens a new pathway to the 2027 FIMBA World Championship in Fortaleza, through a fourth spot per category and per country.
Maxi basketball at the International Maxi Games adds a new and significant sporting incentive. Given the growth and scale of the FIMBA World Championships, a fourth spot per category and per country has been added for the upcoming 2027 FIMBA World Championship in Fortaleza.
This new opportunity arises from the joint effort between FIMBA and the International Maxi Games, linking that fourth spot to participation in the maxi basketball discipline at the Games.
As a result, participating teams will have a new pathway to secure a spot at Fortaleza 2027, adding a highly valuable athletic goal to the experience of competing in an international, multidisciplinary event.
An Opportunity in Addition to National Qualifying Spots
It is important to note that this initiative does not modify or replace the traditional qualification system.
The three standard spots per category and per country remain fully in effect and will continue to be administered by the respective national organizations that are part of the FIMBA international community.
The spot linked to the Maxi Games therefore constitutes a fourth, additional opportunity, created to expand participation opportunities and support the sustained international growth of maxi-basketball.
Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Uruguay already have access to this new pathway.
This system is already in place in Brazil and Mexico, and Uruguay has recently joined as well, thereby extending this new qualification opportunity to its teams.
The initiative represents another step toward integration between the International Maxi Games and the FIMBA community, creating new challenges and opportunities for teams that continue to make maxi-basketball a sporting experience without age limits.
For those participating in maxibasketball at the International Maxi Games, there will now be an additional goal at stake: to make their way to Brazil and be part of FIMBA Fortaleza 2027.
