Leones de Puebla will compete in the 2026 International Maxi Games in Mar del Plata, taking place from November 24 to December 4.
Following their outstanding performance at the 2025 FIBA World Cup in Switzerland, Leones de Puebla will compete in the 2026 International Maxi Games in Mar del Plata, taking place from November 24 to December 4.
José Francisco Rodríguez Solís is the team’s leader. First, he recounts his athletic career: “I’ve been playing basketball for 30 years and I’m 48 years old. I started in school and then in college. Later, I began working, but I played in local and state tournaments. As I entered my veteran years, I continued playing in state tournaments in Mexico, and we began competing in FIMBA. In 2024, at the Pan American Games in Mérida, we finished in fifth place.”
Regarding their presence in Mar del Plata, he mentions that it was thanks to “a kind invitation that Franco Zullich (a member of the International Committee of the Maxi Games) extended to us during a visit to Puebla, and we decided to go.”
COMPETING AND SHARING
Francisco explains the objectives of the team’s visit to Argentina: “Sports and camaraderie go hand in hand. We enjoy getting to know other cultures, especially one as rich as Argentina’s. Plus, the people there are warm.”
