El Salvador is preparing its team of athletes who will represent the Central American country at the International Maxi Games
With great anticipation, El Salvador is preparing its team of athletes who will represent the Central American country at the International Maxi Games, to be held in Mar del Plata from November 24 to December 4.
“We are working very hard to be present in Argentina,” stated Ana Ruano, who is also president of FIMBA ESA and oversaw a major effort that culminated in the successful hosting of the 13th Pan American Maxi-Basketball Championship in her country, organized by FIMBA.
“We are working with several disciplines, including basketball, soccer, and others, with which we plan to go to Mar del Plata. Athletes who were not selected now have the opportunity to represent the country and want to do so with great pride,” she said.
A FORMER INTERNATIONAL
El Salvador’s goal is to compete in sports such as soccer. To that end, work is underway to form men’s and women’s F11 and F7 teams.
Ruano noted: “We already have a soccer coordinator who is recognized worldwide, Luis Ricardo Guevara Mora, who will be in charge of the teams.” Mora was a goalkeeper for the El Salvador national team that played in the 1982 World Cup, facing Argentina, among other opponents.
A BIG BET: THE MAXI GAMES IN EL SALVADOR
El Salvador isn’t just promising to come and enjoy a great sporting and social experience in Argentina. “Our goal is to bid for El Salvador to host the next edition of the Maxi Games. Those who attended the FIMBA Pan American Games already know about the quality of our organization and infrastructure. Everything was a success, and we can replicate that at the Maxi Games. There is a lot of interest in bringing these games to the country.”
We received significant support from Rodolfo Mena, president of the Salvadoran Basketball Federation (FESABAL) and vice president of FIMBA, who has already been invited to participate in Mar del Plata.
